Chocolate "An Extravaganza

I am going thru web sites looking at recipes with Chocolate in them. Trying to decided what to make for the Library Friends fund raiser. I just don't know for sure what to do yet. I have done Raspberry or Cherry Torts, and White Chocolate Trifle is also a recipe I have made in other years but I am in the mood to try something different but what.

Anyone have any thoughts on a wonderful recipe I just need to make. It is required that it has to be some kind of Chocolate and something that can be served in small bite servings. Since of coarse we want to try so many things. There is so many choices to eat that night.

Working on the quilt

I have not been doing a lot on the City Park Quilt until last night. I put together another two rows last night it is getting close to being done. Not sure how much will get done on it tonight hubby wants to rent the Transforers Movie: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN movie. Since tonight is the 99 cent movie rental night I have a feeling we are going to be watching a movie.

We are going to the Fayette Community Church Fish Fry tonight. One of the members of the church is an avid fisherman and several years ago they were looking at a freezer full of fish an decided to have a dinner to raise money for the church. Well it has snowballed into quite a community event to get tickets you have to be on the list. If you don't go for a year or two you get taken off the list and get put on a sort of waiting list. Kind of wild but that is how it goes.

The dishwasher has been unpacked but has not been put in service yet. DH had a couple other projects he wanted/needed to do Sunday so I am waiting for the dishwasher to be installed yet. Oh well it will happen just needs a little patience.

New Dishwasher

Well it looks like the rain has stop for a little bit so today we are going to drive to Waterloo and pick up the new dishwasher that was ordered last weekend. Kind of a pain since when we went down to look at them I was in the mode of I want it now. LOL instant gratification I guess.

Oh well just have to learn some patience I guess.

I started yesterday afternoon and did up posters for the Chocolate "An Extravaganza" one of the Library Friends big money makers. We do really well at this it is hosted at the Upper Iowa University's President Home I think that is as big of an attraction as the fact that you get to come and spend the time eating as many chocolate goodies as you can stuff in your month/plate. Talk about and overload.

Yesterday I started a reload on Ray's computer That is the lap top at work I have been fighting with it for the last two weeks. I think it has been the printer that was on the system was a dell 4 in 1 and it was just fine then about 2 weeks ago the scanner/copier/fax part of it quit working. It would still print but the rest of it was a no go.

So Ray and Karla went out and got a new printer 4 in 1 it was a Lexmark not real expensive unit. I suggested a black laser printer but that was a further drive to get it. So this new printer will only default to printing in color mode first you have to at the begining of each copy hit the black button and then copy. So I thought ok I will load the software that goes with this new printer and hopefully change the default. WRONG. The software for the Lexmark took over the printer spool and I could not change any settings on the printer. I did not realize it had taken over the printer spool so I then moved the lap top back to the desk it sits on and rehooked the old printer to it. Now nothing will print on the old Dell printer because the Lexmark has taken over the printer spool and there are like 4 black ink cartrides yet to use up on the Dell. Lets just say that the Dell ink cartrides are not cheap and so goes the saga of the printers.

Lets just say after doing a whole bunch of uninstalls and reinstalls and etc I am reformating the hard drive and starting it over again. This is not a super fast project but it should fix all the problems I HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So as I go back and forth checking to see that all the updates are installed then I take it down and rehook the printer and then put the program in that we use to create labels. So wish me lots of luck.

Ok is this normal for an Ipod to do

Ok I wonder is it normal to have to reformat your ipod I think I have done it like 3 times since I have had it? Plus several problems getting it to start. where you have to hold down the power button and the home button. Just makes me curious is all

I started a new book by Stephanie Meyer the author of the twilight series.

Well I just checked my Ipod for the name of the book and it is gone. It was there last night and now it is not on the player this is so fustrating I left the player plug into the computer to recharge it and now the book seems to have disappeared and of coarse I no longer have it as a download from the library download site. Maybe it is still in the Itune program I hope

I think I am in a love hate relations ship with my ipod.

Hmm what to do what to do

I seem to be in a repeative mood lately.

This was my Saturday to work that went pretty normal. Had two special orders nothing big deal dinner rolls for the Catholic Church dinner and then Pies for several people that did not want to make there own for the dinner.

I knew pecan pie was expensive but I just priced it out today and it cost over 8 dollars for just the ingredients for the pie. I had orders for 3 Pecan pie so did up a 4th one. Worked out well the boss's wife was making one and so she took the last one and they are all gone. :)

Got a note from Menards today the dishwasher that was ordered last week is finaly in transit to the store for our pick up. Wonder how long that will take to get from the warehouse to Waterloo store. So far the wait is almost a week long.

I started a new book I am now listening to THE HOST by Stephenie Meyer the Author of the Twilight set of books. This is to be an adult book and is starting out rather interesting in that the world is being taken over by a group of aliens that take posession of your body and you do not realize it is happening. That is about as far as I am. Those kind of movies are not usually my cup of tea but this book is not to bad but I am only about an hour into it and there are like 18 parts and each one is a little over an hour long.

Well off to work on some laundry and quilt top I have not done a lot with that this week.

Ok I am whining my arms hurt

Well Monday was uneventful though thru the ambulance service I am part of it was time to go in for the update of shots. Well not only did we get the current Flu shot. Not the H1N1 but the basic flu shot I also need a tetanus update and that included pertusis (not sure I spelled that one right). Then it has been eons since I had a TB test. Well they all happen last night and today my arms are so sore. Since one side got the flu, one side got the tetanus they seem to for some reason stiffen up my arms. No other really bad side effects just arms that feels stiff and sore.

I have sewn together three rows so far tonight and I think I am going back to work on another row or two of the king size City Park. Hope to snap a picture later probably not until Thur though. Tomorrow I am working at the Bakery in the AM and then off to West Union to work at Northeast Iowa Medical Transport for the afternoon. Seems like I usually don't end up with a busy day but you never know what will happen things change in a moment with this job.

Thanks for listening to my whine

Monday Monday

Well yesterday we ran to Waterloo and ordered a new dish washer and I have a feeling that a new washer is in the cards for the near future. There is a leak around the tub area it is a slow leak but since the washer is upstairs having it become a big leak would not be a happy surprise. The happy surpise is while looking at dish washers we found that they do make washers that it looks like you can stack a full size dryer on top of the washer. So now to put a little money aside the next few months to make this next purchase with. Seems like there is always something to put money aside for.

Oh well that is how it goes if it is not one thing it is another. Today was a moderately busy day worked Bakery in the morning and then had quilters in the afternoon. This is my small quilt guild with about 12 to 15 members. Two of the ladies there make cards out of bits and peices of fabric and scrap booking papers and rubber stamping. They had some gorgous cards to show of it sure tempting to try but I already have so many different things that I like to do and projects going. Just not sure I have time for one more thing on my plate.

I think I have all the blocks done for the City Park quilt so I do belive that is my project for the rest of the day. I don't think it is going to take a long time to sew that one all together just need to rearrange the blocks a little bit and then put it all together. I think I may need to go to the Opera house and use the floor there one more time. I just don't have enough floor space in any of the rooms here to lay out a king size quilt. A queen I can do on our bed but those extra blocks are just a little bit to much space is required.

Yesterday going's on

Ok I thought about typing in this last night but oh well did not get to that. Such is life.

I am still trying to figure out how to set things up on here and some how I set my self as my own favorite. Decided oh well and not to worry about it.

This was my weekend off I work every other and so I got to sleep in HA HA I was up at 6:00 AM and could not fall back to sleep checked in with my co worker since she had a wopping large order for a church dinner to bake up. All was going well there so I did not have to stop by and lend a hand. She has done the same for me so pay back is important.

I did not get a lot done in the morning a little house pick up and all that jazz then reailzed that today the New Albin gals had the quilt display to benefit there Public Library. So Jeana and I took off to go see the display. (sorry I forgot my camera) They had some wonderful quilts and smaller pieces up on display. Then we walked out to find a car show/cruzie that was really kind of fun to see too.

After that a nice drive home unfortunately the leaves have not changed much yet so that part of the drive was not as pretty as it could of been.

Got home last night and just seem to be tired and ready to call it a night watched the Ghost Whisper and then Medium that I had saved on the DVR and worked on a new quilt a wall hanging design by CrabbyApple Hill called Over the River and Thru the Woods Pattern

I am learning a new embroidery stitch for this project I have always done a stem stitch for things and this pattern says to use a backstitch. I found a tutorial on line by Mary Corbet NeedleNThread web site. Mary Corbet has some wonderful short tutorials on different embroidery stitches if you are interested.

So that pretty much sums up what I did yesterday.

Fred (Hubby) he winterized the camper and put way the motor cycle and did some other projects out side so he had a full day too.

The book I have been listening to this last week. It is a murder mystery I downloaded off the neighbors web site that is connected to the Fayette Community Library web site.
I Love downloadable books!!!!!!
I also love my IPOD touch
So if you are looking for a good book with a lot of suspense in it try this one.

Ok I tried a new recipe yesterday and decided it is time to share it.

Apple Crisp Crescent Bars

4 cups (4 med) peeled, thinly sliced apples
2/3 cup sugar
1 Tbsp Flour
1 tsp cinnamon
8 oz Pillsbry Quick Crescent dinner rolls
1 Tbsp butter

Topping
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup butter softened
2 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl; combine first 4 ingredients. Separate crescent dough into 2 large rectangles. Place rectangle in ungreased 15 x 10 in jelly roll pan. Gently press dough to cover bottom of pan; seal perforateions. Spoon apples mixture over dough. Dot with butter. In medium bowl combine topping ingredients until crumbly. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 min.

Notes after making the recipe. You either need a second tube of cresent dinner rolls or I would say put this in a 9x13 pan. The cresents did not cover the pan button by any shape or means. (sorry I did not think to picture that)
In making the topping I would cut the butter and flour together and then mix in the sugar, oats and vanilla
Now if you do put it in a smaller pan you might want a little less of the topping. Fred said it needed pecans in the topping too. So that is an optional add.
The flavor is good and in the larger pan you do get a nice layer of apples and topping and it is not to think so a good bar. In a smaller pan you may lose the bar part of this and it will be more of a bowl desert item.

Hmm wonder if this will take

Well I decided today to see if I am a blogger or not. I enjoy reading different blogs and seeing different things in them.

Not sure where this will lead me or if in a while I will lose interest. Sometimes that happens to us we start out excited and then life and time and reality sets in and things fall to the way side.
